ISO 26262 Classification Kit available for MES Model Examiner®.

The ISO 26262 Classification Kit for MES Model Examiner® is a convenient solution for tool classification developed by the Berlin-based software company Model Engineering Solutions (MES) in cooperation with samoconsult GmbH. The additional component of MES Model Examiner® simplifies safeguarding the software tool in compliance with ISO 26262 and provides an optimal solution to manage guideline checks and tool classification within a single framework.

Safety-critical software and systems are developed in compliance with the ISO 26262 standard in the automotive industry. ISO 26262-8 covers cross-functional processes for developing safety-critical software. Section 11 stipulates the use of a two-stage framework for safeguarding software tools used in the development process. The aim of these measures is that the user can rely on the accuracy of the results generated by the tool. The first step of this framework is the tool classification (also Confidence Level Evaluation); the second is the tool qualification. Users can cover the first step with the ISO 26262 Classification Kit for MES Model Examiner® conveniently.

Implementation at ZF Friedrichshafen AG
