MES will host its first Summer School on model-based development from June 12 – 16, 2017 in Berlin/Potsdam (Germany).
The MES Summer School on Introduction to Model-based Software Development is a five-day training workshop held by software company Model Engineering Solutions (MES). The Berlin-based company has over 10 years experience conducting training workshops and providing services in model-based development and quality assurance of models. With the MES Summer School, taking place from June 12 – 16, 2017, MES is specifically targeting all software developers of embedded systems who work in model-based development or are planning a switch from code-based to model-based development. The MES Summer School will, in five days, equip participants with the right tools and know-how to develop and safeguard safety-critical software models according to standards like IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and ASPICE.
Industrial Application of Model-based Software Development
Model-based development of embedded systems is a mature technology to create technical software applications with high quality and efficiency. These technologies are used in particular in the automotive industry and in automation technology, but they are also applied in aeronautics and medical technology.
MES Summer School on Introduction to Model-based Development of Embedded Systems
The MES Summer School program offers participants a comprehensive guide to model-based software development and quality assurance: from the elicitation and management of requirements through to the definition of architectures and model structure. Particular attention will be paid to static and dynamic quality assurance methods.
The MES Summer School connects theory with practical implementation. The thematic introductions and explanations made by the speakers will be followed by practical applications of the theory and discussions. By applying all relevant process steps during the hands-on sessions, participants will face all the typical challenges of modeling safety-critical systems; this will prepare them for the application of the relevant process steps in their own projects. Beyond this, participants will receive practical recommendations for modeling and safeguarding their models according to standards like IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and ASPICE.
The group size will capped at 20 participants, allowing the speakers to provide individual supervision. The experienced speaker team, a relaxed atmosphere, and an appealing leisure program in Berlin will ensure that participants have ample time to exchange with each other and with the speakers.
The MES Summer School is equally suited to developers switching from code-based to model-based development as to beginners in model-based development. The workshop is designed for developers, testers, projects managers, and team leaders, whose focus is safeguarding safety-critical embedded software. The MES Summer School is also suitable for industry personnel, as well as for academic staff from universities and technical colleges. Only basic modeling knowledge with Simulink® and Stateflow® is assumed.

The participation cost for the entire event is € 2,400 plus VAT per participant. The cost includes accommodation at the avendi Hotel am Griebnitzsee and full catering. An early bird discount of 10% is offered on registrations made before March 31, 2017. An additional 25% discount is available for companies that register more than one participant at the same time or that register for another training workshop from the MES Training Workshop Program 2017. The cost for university personnel is € 980 plus VAT.
