InSystems Automation GmbH and Model Engineering Solutions GmbH will introduce newly developed methods for designing software systems at booth E52 in Hall 27 at CEBIT, which runs from June 11 to 15 in Hanover (Germany).
In the future, autonomous robots, intelligent engine control units, and flexible production machines will work together in teams and, through this, will learn on their own the best ways to complete their tasks. The development project CrESt - Collaborative Embedded Systems, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is centered on developing methods for designing software architectures. These methods enable software systems to be developed in which different machines can be networked to form learning teams. The Berlin-based software company Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES) and InSystems Automation GmbH (InSystems) are currently working with other partners on developing methods to safeguard automated and autonomous systems and are contributing decisively to the overall success of the development project.
CrESt 2017-2019: Collaborative Embedded Systems
Funded by the BMBF, the development project CrESt is dedicated to developing collaborative embedded systems, and the focus here is on dynamic software systems. The goal is to define methods for the model-based description of dynamic rechargeable applications, of which there are many examples: from robots and learning engine control units to production machines. The intention is for these applications to work together safely in a collaborative manner, relieve people of repetitive tasks, and carry these out in an optimized, goal-oriented way. Based on model-based system designs, methods of analysis can safeguard the necessary properties of the systems and be applied in InSystems's transport robots. The collective success that the project partners have had developing these methods can be clearly seen in the following transport robot example.
The Transport Robot at CEBIT in Hanover
MES and InSystems will present an autonomous transport robot that offers CEBIT attendees flyers at the shared CrESt booth, which will be part of BMBF trade fair booth (Hall 27, booth E52). Equipped with a speech function, the robot will prompt people to take a handout.
Whenever a flyer is taken, the robot will mark the point where the interaction took place on an interactive map. Once this has been done and the path is clear, the robot will proceed to its next destination. The results will then be tracked live on an interactive map.
About InSystems Automation GmbH
InSystems Automation GmbH develops innovative automation solutions for material flow, assembly, and quality assurance. InSystems designs, builds, and programs customized machines and plants and implements these into the customer’s production control process. Founded in 1999, the company is located in the science center of Berlin-Adlershof and has 70 employees. InSystems supplies material flow solutions with transport robots to customers completely from a single source. The customer-specific transport robots are developed for loads between 30 and 1,200 kg and are integrated as a fleet into an existing production control process and production environment. Individual transport robots are particularly suitable for special requirements and tasks, as they are optimally adapted to customer requirements (loads, transfer heights, aisle width, transfer points, degree of automation, interfaces with production control, software) in the best way possible. Transport robots navigate automatically using a laser scanner without ground loops or wall reflectors and react to changes in their work environment on their own. The vehicles are safe and can bypass obstacles and people autonomously or decide to take an alternative route. As an independent vehicle fleet, the transport robots organize all transport tasks so as to ensure a completely automatic internal material flow. The vehicles communicate with each other via WiFi and navigate around one another early, helping to avoid traffic or mutual obstruction.
Examples of their implementation are:
- automatic material flow between warehouse, machines, workstations, and dispatch for items such as small load carrier containers, trays, barrels, and coils
- removal of components and automatic transport of these to qualification control or rework stations
- transport of tools and test equipment to assembly lines or workstations
- Transport robot S.A.S.H.A for use in hospitals and care facilities
- Trash robot for use in offices, malls
