The complete workflow for static model testing can be conveniently applied with the latest version of MXAM.
The newest version of the MES Model Examiner® (MXAM) v.4.2 embeds the static testing of models with regard to guideline compliance into customer-specific processes. Developed by Berlin-based software company Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES), the tool allows quality managers, function developers, and reviewers to execute their respective workflows comfortably and according to their needs. In this way, resources and work products can be allocated in the best way possible in MXAM. The evaluation of model quality and the review of automatically checkable and non-checkable guidelines are optimally supported in the peer review.
Workflow support for quality managers, function developers, and reviewers
Via a configurable workflow, MXAM perfectly supports quality assurance processes in guideline checking. The quality manager can easily initiate a project in MXAM that allows them to create a project-specific setup, make the guideline selection, configure checks, as well as define ignore-lists and artifacts. Additionally, they can also include company guidelines and checks. Once the project has been set up by the quality manager, the function developer's team works on it further, checking guideline violations and improving models based on MXAM reports so that the desired model quality is achieved and the guidelines are met. In cases where exceptions are necessary for specific parts of a model, annotations with a justification can be added and regularly saved. If this goes into the peer review, these results are also visible to the reviewer.
View, comment on, and save results in the peer review
If the reviewer evaluates the function developers' results in the peer review, they can, in MXAM, comfortably view and control variations or non-testable guidelines and save the results of the review. MXAM also makes it easy to work on the same report via the MXMR report format, which has again been made readable. The quality manager ultimately receives the reviewer's reports and can release them.
The tool provides quick answers to questions such as: "Which guidelines need to be reviewed? Which guidelines are not automatically or only partly checkable?", and offers the reviewer the ideal environment for further processing. During the review, MXAM provides a quick overview of critical points and offers everyone involved the opportunity to achieve the best results in model quality.
The MES Model Examiner® (MXAM)
The MES Model Examiner® (MXAM) is a tool for automated guideline checks of MATLAB Simulink®/Stateflow®, MathWorks Embedded Coder®, dSPACE TargetLink®, SparxSystems Enterprise Architect®, and ETAS ASCET® models, developed by Model Engineering Solutions. As part of this, the tool ensures compliance with modeling guidelines and safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, DO 178C etc.). Internal company guidelines can also be easily integrated into the comprehensive policy and check management, meaning MXAM can be seamlessly incorporated into a company's internal tool chain. MXAM is available in three editions: the MISRA® Compliance Solution for MISRA®-compliant model development and the Functional Safety Solution for safety-critical model development. MXAM offers a separate ASCET Solution for ASCET users.
About MES: Software Quality. Made in Germany.
Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES) is the competence center for model-based software. Structured along three main areas, MES Quality Tools, MES Test Center, and MES Academy, MES offers ideal support for integrated quality assurance. The MES Quality Tools are software tools to achieve highest quality. MES Model Examiner® (MXAM) is the first-choice solution for checking modeling guidelines. MES Test Manager® (MTest) perfectly implements requirements-based unit testing in model-based development. MES Quality Commander® (MQC) evaluates the quality and product-readiness of your software and delivers key decision-making data throughout the product development lifecycle. The MES Test Center includes testing services from requirements management, through setting up test specifications and automated test evaluation to quality monitoring. The MES Academy provides training workshops and seminars and supports customers seeking to introduce or enhance their model-based development processes, such as fulfilling standards like IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and ASPICE. MES clients include major OEMs and suppliers to the automotive industry as well as in automation technology worldwide. MES is a TargetLink® Strategic Partner of dSPACE Inc. and a MathWorks and ETAS Product Partner.
